Ask a driver who runs this trip regularly and they will tell you the hard part is the first four minutes, not the hour that follows. Getting out of Suffolk Park means threading the quiet grid between Clifford Street and Tallow Beach, the sandy lanes, the speed humps through Baywood Chase, the hedges that have grown over half a driveway since the owners were last down. After that it is simple: north on Broken Head Road past the Byron Bay Golf Club, onto Bangalow Road, then the Byron bypass so you skip the town centre entirely, out along Ewingsdale Road and up the ramp onto the Pacific Motorway.
From there the M1 does the work. Tyagarah, Brunswick Heads, Ocean Shores, over the Burringbar range with Wollumbin standing off to the west, down through the cane country at Mooball and Chinderah, past the Kingscliff and Tweed Heads exits, then the Tugun Bypass and its short tunnel tucked in under the end of the runway. You come out on the Gold Coast Highway at Bilinga and turn into Terminal Drive. Ninety two kilometres door to kerb, and 56 to 66 minutes when the road is behaving.
It behaves most of the time. The exceptions are predictable: the Byron school run between 8am and 9am, Friday afternoons northbound through the Tweed, and the bookend weekends of the NSW school holidays when every second car has a boardbag on the roof. For an early flight none of that applies, at 4am the motorway is yours.

Travellers in the villages south of Byron get told no a lot. Plenty of Queensland chauffeur companies will not cross the border to collect you, which leaves Suffolk Park, Broken Head and Lennox oddly underserved for a coastline this busy.

We may collect you in New South Wales when the drop off is in Queensland, and Gold Coast Airport sits squarely in Queensland. Suffolk Park to OOL is legal, routine work for us. The reverse leg is fine too, a Queensland pickup dropping into Suffolk Park. What we cannot do is a trip that starts and finishes in New South Wales, and we will say so rather than take the booking.

Be honest about the alternatives out here. There is no train anywhere in the Northern Rivers, the old Casino,Murwillumbah line has been a rail trail for years. Driving yourself leaves a car parked at the airport for the length of the holiday, and rideshare from a street off Broken Head Road at 4am is a coin toss.

No. From $239 for the sedan and from $305 for the seven seater are per car prices covering everyone in it, with GST, airport fees, tolls and child seats included. They are from prices, your exact street and pickup time can shift them.
Our driveway is narrow and sandy. Will the car get up it?
Usually, and if it will not the driver will find the nearest safe spot and carry the bags. Flag anything unusual when you book, steep entry, shared lane, low branches, and we will send the right vehicle and plan the approach.
Do you really not charge for child seats?
We really do not. Capsules, rear facing, forward facing and boosters are all free and fitted by the driver before pickup, however many you need. No competitor in this corridor advertises the same.
